Scottish Series FBIf you’ve been following the Argyll and the Apps Facebook page you won’t fail to notice the daily posts about the Scottish Series that’s dominated the timeline over the last few weeks.  This year the Clyde Cruising Club organised event celebrates its 40th birthday and we wanted to celebrate this milestone in the best way we know how, by promoting it on social media!

Scottish Series has had several guises over its lifetime, with sponsors ranging from the original Tomatin distillery, through McEwans, Stakis Hotels, Rover and Brewin Dolphin to name only a few.  And the event has evolved from being a fiercely contested regatta to being one of the most anticipated races on the yacht racing calendar.  What hasn’t changed is the venue for the series.  The village of Tarbert has played host to it from the start and for four days in May it transforms itself into the base for sailors, crews and visitors who want to see what all the hype is about.

We’re posting photos and video on our Facebook page, so whether you’ve raced in the Series over the years or just enjoy watching the racing we’d like to hear from you.  Come over and share your photos or your stories on the page at and tell us what year was the best and why.

Happy birthday Scottish Series – we’ll be there in May – I just hope there’s going to be birthday cake!
