Day two of Silvers Marine Scottish Series provided the perfect sailing conditions for racing with easterly winds blowing between 9 – 15 knots.

Today boats across all classes sailed on the same course which made for a very colourful spectacle both on and off the water.  But, as yet, there is no clear dominating force in any class, which makes for very exciting racing.  In IRC Class 1 the Scottish Commodore’s Cup team occupy the top three positions.  Aurora’s Rod Stuart told us that he had a great day today and he is ‘delighted at the effort of his crew out on the water so far’.  While in IRC Class 2 John Corson’s Salamander XXI has a comfortable lead over Robert McConnell’s Fools Gold and Alan Jeffrey and Paul Scutt’s Carmen II.

IRC Class 4 has some of the closest sailing with Tim Ellis in TM Racing and Craig Latimer in Wildbeest IV slugging it out for position.  And hot on their heels are J Dryburgh and R Pilcher in TJIG IV.

In CYCA Class 5 Ian Macdonald in Significant scored a first in race one.  And after the second race he sits in third position behind Jamie Cumming’s Rogue Trader and Roddy Angus’ More Misjif.

One boat we have to mention today is Alan Dunnet’s Valhalla of Ashton sailing in CYCA Class 6.  This boat has sailed in every Scottish Series, by the same family, and the team had a great day today scoring a third and a first in the first two races.

In the Sigmas we’re seeing a real battle between Donald McLaren’s Sigmatic, James Miller’s Mayrise and Griogair Whyte’s Close Encounters.  While over in the Sontata’s Murray Caldwell’s Red Hot Poker leads Mark Taylor in Saraband and Mark Bradshaw in Mostly Harmless.

Jamie McGarry of Silvers Marine summed up the Series so far saying that this is a great way of putting Silvers Marine back on the map.

And credit must also be given to the race management for excellent organisation and for managing to get three races in today.
