tunnocks logo Higher ResSponsorship of the Piper OD Class Championship Series for 2015 has been agreed with Thomas Tunnock Ltd .

Tunnocks will take headline sponsorship throughout the season for the 4 Regatta series.
The first of which is the Anniversary Regatta sailed at Holy Loch Sailing Club on the 16-17th May, followed by Cove regatta in June ,the Class Championships at RGYC in August and finally the City Sailing Regatta back at the Holy Loch in September.
Further support is also to come from Inverhouse Distillers “Old Pulteney” Maritime malt brand who are sponsoring the Piper Class Championships Regatta at Royal Gourock Yacht Club on the weekend of 15/16th May .
Together with Class support “Old Pulteney “ will be hosting a “tasting” after racing on the Saturday, something that the skippers and crews will be particularly looking forward to after completing 3 hard fought races !
Duncan Chalmers current Class Secretary commented……….. “Although the Piper class has been principally self financing over the years we felt that with our 50th coming up in 2016 the time was right to look for some form of sponsorship. We are absolutely delighted that both “Tunnocks” and Old Pulteney “ have come on board for 2015 and we are all looking forward to an interesting and exciting season”.
The Golden Jubilee has created an interesting refurbishment programme for the boats, with some new owners searching out the boats that have been stored away for years.
Other owners who have not been afloat for a couple of years are now determined to have their boats afloat and racing.
There are now very few boats that are not accounted for whether they be sailing on the Clyde, South coast , Antigua, or the USA the class association has worked away at keeping records updated and where the boats are sailing.

The original wooden “plug “ built by Robertsons to be exhibited at the 1966 London Boatshow was recently located in Essex, despite an attempt to purchase the boat last year to bring back to the Clyde for the Jubilee the boat has now been sold to a new owner and is sailing around the Norfolk Broads.,
